First iceboats of the season hit East Sandusky Bay. Ice reported to be about 18" thick. Recent thaw has melted down most snow, for sailable ice with lumpy areas.

Earlier in the season, Christmas day had showed a promising glassy plate that was soon covered with 8" of snow.
